The Iditarod sled dog race is nearly a week old, and the race
for the lead is heating up.
The top five teams are heading towards the coastal village
of Unalakleet, the first stop on the Bering Sea coast. And while weather is
always a wildcard on the final leg of the race, at this point, the winner would
appear to come from this bunch. The teams are all within 3–7 mile of each
other.
Mitch Seavey, showing that Father really does know best, has
an extremely small lead over his son Dallas. And close behind are Wade Marrs,
Nicolas Petit and Norwegian Joar Ulsom.
It is still anybody’s race…
